Dr Reon van Dyk MB.ChB.M.Med.(INT)
Dr Reon van Dyk completed his postgraduate training as a specialist physician during 2002 and entered private specialist practice at the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital, Cape Town.
He soon developed a passion for HIV medicine and found the successes of mother-to-child transmission prevention to be one
of the most rewarding parts of his day.
Reon soon realised that counselling and emotional support structures are often neglected especially in newly diagnosed HIV patients and their families. A solution
to this was the appointment of a compassionate counsellor at the Positive Lives.
"It still excites me to notice the shine in the eyes of new patients when I tell them about the growing number of my patients that have been living with HIV for close to 25 years. The chances are good that they too will attend their grandchildren's weddings one day!"
