Edgar Wright
Edgar completed his nursing training in 1990 and has worked at the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital, Cape Town for the past 11 years. He found his passion in the Trauma Unit, but soon discovered that there is an enormous need for people with compassion to work with individuals living with HIV. He later realised his need to work in the HIV field.
Under Shift Training Academy, he completed a variety of unit standards including “Facilitate” learning using a variety of methodologies. He also did a HIV Pre- and Post-Test counselling course through Solidarity Centre, both of which are SETA accredited. He also completed the Basic Principles of Public Relations in 2004 and is currently doing his BA Communication degree at UNISA, part-time.
He joined Positive Lives in October 2005, with a vision to improve care, treatment and to promote a better quality of life for individuals living with HIV.
In the corporate world he is involved in HIV-awareness training programmes as well as voluntary counselling and testing (VCT).
